Cedar Cliff tops Carlisle

Cedar Cliff's wrestling team got the best of a close match against Carlisle as the Colts edged the Thundering Herd 34-32 Tuesday night at Carlisle.

Featured matches included the 171-pound bout, in which Carlisle's Mark Wambold pinned T.J. Morrison of Cedar Cliff in 4:30. Colt star Jared Royer won a 9-1 major decision over the Herd's Jake Wilson at 125.

Colt pinners were Joel Williams in 4:13 over Jason Lindstrom at 215 pounds and Josh Gallaher in 3:59 over Wes Gingrich at 112. Winning by fall for Carlisle were 135-pound Rocky Brent in 2:34 over Tyler Livings and 140-pound Will Simpson over Justin Smith in 2:35.

Also earning bonus points was Carlisle's Tommy Wambold, who won by 16-1 technical fall over Darya Karim at the 4:10 mark of the 119-pound match. Cedar Cliff's Rob Bozart won by forfeit at 145, the next-to-last match of the night, to clinch the win for the Colts. Rob Morrison (103) also won by forfeit for Cedar Cliff.

Other Cedar Cliff winners were Nick Reed with a 3-0 decision over Tom Malinich at 160 and Josh Wissler with a 5-4 decision over Chris Laughman at 189. Carlisle decision winners were Scott Hufnagle 10-3 over Todd Witters at 275, Drew Nickel 3-0 over Kris Stahle at 130 and Mark Snyder 6-3 over Shane Rapsey at 152.

Carlisle is 5-8. The Thundering Herd hosts Lower Dauphin Thursday.
