Red Raiders keep on winning
The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg Lady Raider field hockey team improved their record 13-0 on the season and 8-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with a 4-0 victory over PSAC foe Slippery Rock (0-9, 0-8) at the Robb Sports Complex on Saturday.
It didn't take long for the Lady Raiders to crack the scoring column, as junior Ashley Watt scored her first of two goals on the game, giving her 21 for the season, tying the school record for goals in seasons that she set last season.
Swarthmore 3, Dickinson 1
The Dickinson field hockey team played a strong first half but could not outlast the Garnet Tide of Swarthmore Saturday in a 3-1 loss.
Heidi Fieselman put the Garnet Tide on the board in the first 14 minutes of the game with an assist from Saranne Perman on a penalty corner. The Devils tied the game behind Morgan Kelly's corner, with the assist from Katie Austin.
Salisbury 5, Messiah 2
The Messiah College field hockey team suffered a 5-2 loss Saturday at the hands of defending national champion Salisbury.
Lindsay Hunter and Lynn Sandowich scored for the Falcons, who were outshot 34-14. Freshman keeper Renee Herbster made 16 saves.
Women's volleyball
Holiday Inn Classic
The Shippensburg University volleyball team traveled to Clarion University for the two-day Holiday Inn Classic, but returned home with just one win in four matches. The Lady Raiders' record is now 11-12 on the season.
Swarthmore 3, Dickinson 1
The Dickinson College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Swarthmore College Saturday.
Match scores were 30-15, 29-31, 30-17, 30-10.
Women's soccer
Lock Haven 3,
Shippensburg 0
After not allowing a goal in the last four games, the Shippensburg University women's soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to end with a 3-0 defeat at Lock Haven University on Saturday afternoon.
Coming into Saturday's game, the Lady Raiders (3-5-3) had not allowed a goal in the last 484:01, a span of five games. Against the Lady Eagles, Shippensburg extended that stretch to 495:19 before allowing the first goal of the game in the 12th minute, when Colleen Kafka scored on a header off a free kick in the box, assisted by Lynnette Reitz.
Lock Haven (4-8) took its one goal lead into halftime before Sam Engard scored the first of her two goals just two minutes into the second half on a corner kick. Reitz picked up her second assist on the play.
Dickinson 6, Goucher 0
The Dickinson College women's soccer team set a school record, posting its fifth consecutive shutout this season. The Red Devils rolled past Goucher 6-0 Saturday to improve 6-1-2 overall. The Devils' shutout streak replaces the four-game stretch set by the 1987 team.
Messiah 2, Albright 0
The Messiah's women's soccer team defeated Albright 2-0 Saturday.
Falcon Rachel Horning scored the first goal of the game, and teammate Sarah Hibshman's penalty kick increased Messiah's lead.

Johns Hopkins 2,
Dickinson 0
The Dickinson College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins University Saturday.
The Blue Jays tallied a goal in each half as they improved to 6-1-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils fall to 6-4 overall and 1-3 in the CC.
Jeff Grosser put the Blue Jays on the board with his goal in the 38th minute. He was assisted on the play by Edmond Wybaillie. Wybaillie then an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.
Messiah 2, Albright 0
Messiah College's men's soccer team completed a doubleheader sweep Saturday, downing Albright 2-0 after the Falcon women won by the same score.
Senior David McClellan scored the first Falcons goal, with approximately five minutes left in the game. Sophomore Kai Kasiguran also scored for Messiah.
Falcons goalkeeper Dustin Shambach came up with a big save on a penalty kick late in the game to preserve the shutout, his fourth in a row.
Messiah (9-0, 2-0 Commonwealth Conference), ranked No. 1 in the nation, travels to Gettysburg Tuesday for a nonconference game.
Women's cross country
Dickinson Invitational
The Dickinson College women's cross country team posted the lowest score in meet history to win their fifth straight Dickinson Long Course-Short Course team title. The Devils posted a score of eight in the 4k race and 19 points in the 6k.
The Red Devil women also captured team titles in both the 4k and 6k races. Sophomore Caitlin Bradley and first-year Darcy McDonald finished 1-2 in the 4k while Laura Straw and Caitlin Strahota also placed in the top 10, finishing fifth and ninth, respectively.
Men's cross country
Dickinson Invitational
The Dickinson College men's cross country team placed fourth in the combined team scoring with a total of 109. Allegheny claimed the overall title with 60 points on the day. The Devil men were third in the 8k race and fourth in the 4k.
