Firm grows in Carlisle and beyond
A Murata Business Center company is taking a big leap forward by entering into a partnership program with six other firms.
Murata-based BitLeap developed LeapServ backup storage system, which restores computer data lost by system upgrades, natural disasters, theft and more, without the use of faulty tapes or expensive IT personnel to manage them. The one-of-a-kind technology product was developed in 2004-2005 by the BitLeap team with the help of a $40,000 loan from Ben Franklin Technologies Partners.
BitLeap now is taking its next tactical step with what it calls the IT Partner Program. The partnership includes Computer Related Technologies in Liverpool, N.Y., Ethix Consulting and PA Online in Harrisburg, New Age Consulting Corp. in Huntingdon and PC & Network Associates and Your PC Tutor in Carlisle.
‘Whole picture’ in mind
“BitLeap recognizes that our customers have to manage complex overall IT plans of which BitLeap’s products and services only represent a part of the whole picture,” the firm’s website says.
“Our partners serve as the overall IT Integrator for their customers and therefore understand both BitLeap’s capabilities and the precise needs of their customers better than anyone else,” adds Guy Suter, BitLeap CEO.
BitLeap engineers not only provide their IT partners with the proper literature required to effectively do their job but with direct question-and-answer sessions to better serve the program. BitLeap also provides in-depth, individual partner technical training on their products and managed services.
“This is a real win/win situation for our new partners,” Suter says, “because being able to offer our product and the service allows them another great way to get their foot in the door with new customers.”
This type of growth is predicted to continue, but the BitLeap team is carefully monitoring what it calls the “explosion list” of checks and balances that need to take place before it is ready to move to the next steps.
“Murata has provided us with so much advice and experience,” Suter says of his mentors at the Carlisle center, which is a business incubator providing new businesses and entrepreneurs with the support they need to start and grow.
Data restored
LeapServ has proved itself in the world of high tech security by restoring important data that was accidentally lost at two of its clients’ locations.
“We knew that LeapServ could do what we built it to do,” Suter says. “When that first call came in, and we had to perform our first restore, it was a little scary but very exciting. We really celebrated after that.”
