Bethel Christian Academy celebrates its 25th anniversary this school year with many changes.

The school, located in South Middleton Township, will become independent and change its name to Carlisle Christian Academy.

In addition, the school also will also offer its first 12th-grade class this year and, in turn, its first commencement ceremony next spring.

Leadership changes are in place at the school this year as well. In June, the school advisory board accepted the resignation of the former principal and appointed Matthew Tuckey as administrator.

Eliminates confusion

"The name change is simply a reflection of our marketing approach," Tuckey said. "There was confusion among families between the Bethel church, day care and school. The new name allows families to better identify with who we are and what we provide. This year marks a new beginning for the school, which is now positioned to facilitate another 25 years of growth while serving families throughout south-central Pennsylvania."

Carlisle Christian Academy will remain in its current location at 1412 Holly Pike, sharing a campus with Bethel Assembly of God and Bethel Day Care.

Although now an independent school, the relationship among the three organizations remains strong.

"CCA will continue to work closely with the church and day care to collaboratively expand the scope of each ministry," Tuckey said.

Serves K-12 grades

Carlisle Christian Academy serves students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and offers before- and after-school care, full-day summer camp programs, the Discovery Program, Classroom Plus, fine arts, drama, and athletic programs. Home-schooled youth may also register for select programs.

CCA’s core focus is to provide a sound Christ-centered education. The school has more than 125 students enrolled and accepts new student applications throughout the year.
