Carlisle Events expands staff
5 new employees join car show producer.
Carlisle Events recently added five new employees to its full-time staff.
They include Richard Markko, event manager; Edward Buczeskie, event planner; Toni Herscher, event specialist; Jennifer Martek, executive assistant to the partners, and Cathy Mentzer, event and marketing manager of the Expo Center.
• Markko, who recently relocated from the Cleveland, Ohio, will oversee the Carlisle All-GM Nationals and Carlisle All-Ford Nationals.
He previously was the regional marketing manager for Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, and published Let’s Go Cruisin’ magazine” through Xtreme Productions, an event production business he owned.
Markko has held similar jobs with Super Chevy Shows, IHRA, Petersen Publishing’s APG Group and the TV show, My Classic Car. Markko attended Kent State and the University of Alabama.
Markko has four children. He and his fiancé, Tammy Knerr, will reside in the Carlisle area.
He is an avid car guy, Harley fan, a racing aficionado and golfer.
• Buczeskie, who joined the team last month, will manage the Carlisle Import-Kit/ Replicar Nationals and Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals. Buczeskie’s previous employment was with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Aviation in grants management.
He has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Shippensburg University. He and his wife, Nancy, live in Shermans Dale with their two children and enjoy hiking, camping, rafting, biking and attending automotive events.
Buczeskie is an avid car collector, his specialty being Mopar muscle cars.
• Herscher, a Carlisle native and Carlisle High grad, attended Ventura College in California, where she received an associate’s degree in business administration.
After returning to Pennsylvania, she was a manager for Eat N Park for several years.
Before joining Carlisle events, Herscher was in the accounting department of Rite Aid Corp.
She is engaged to Gary Lehman and is planning to wed this October. She is a member of the BBC Auto Club.
• Martek returns to Carlisle Events after being previously employed as an event planner.
After she left to get married and become a stepmother, she was employed by Harrisburg Academy.
Earlier in her career, Martek spent 10 years in communications, marketing and development with the Carlisle Family YMCA.
She is a graduate of Penn State University and is an avid cyclist, runner and hiker. She and her husband, Craig, have two children and reside in Dillsburg.
• Mentzer brings more than 20 years of special events and sales experience to her new position as event and marketing manager of the Expo Center. She and her husband, Rich, reside in Carlisle with their son, Josh.
