A Shermans Dale-area man was killed about 4:30 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle flew off the road at a lefthand curve about 2.5 miles west of 11/15 and struck an embankment along Route 850 in Rye Township, say state police at Newport.

Police say Charles E. Shenk, 65, of 1321 Fox Hollow Road was driving a 2006 Mazda 6 that left the north side of the road and struck a metal guard rail before going airborne. His seat belt was not in use and the air bag did not deploy.
