Local Racing: Herr repeats his winning ways

Frankie Herr enjoyed winning so much last week at Trail-way Speedway that he went back on Friday night and did it again.

 But Herr's latest win came in even more impressive fashion as he passed defending track champ Jeff Rohrbaugh on lap 22 and driving off for his second straight win in the 25-lap 358 Sprint car main behind the wheel of Tom Fromm's No. 9 sprinter.

 Herr started eighth in the field and used some exciting moves late in the event to get around some of the best Trail-Way has to offer.

 Rohrbaugh was second over Brad McClelland, Joe Trone, Jr. and Mike Bittinger. Enola's Nicole Bower was 15th.

 Bob Stough won for the second time in thundercar action over Craig Wagaman, Sam Gallagher, Nat Tuckey and Kyle Martin while Jamie Zentmyer scored the street stock win over Doug Bennett and Ted Forsythe.

FEATHERS WINS AGAIN

 Bo Feathers added his name to the list of winners in the Richard “Boney” Bonebrake Memorial Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway.

 Feathers took the win in the 12th annual tribute race for the former track champion. It was Feathers' second Hagerstown win this season and fourth overall.

He came from the 11th starting spot to take the lead on the 26th lap and drive away for the win over early leader Ray Kable, Jr. Marvin Winters was third ahead of Kirk Ryan, Jr. and Andy Anderson. Shermansdale's Mike Lupfer finished 18th.

 Pete Weaver won the late model sportsman main over James Myers, Kyle Lear, Al Shawver and Cory Houck.  Shippensburg's Jerry Bard was 24th.

 Darrin Younker won the pure stocks over Mike Warrenfeltz and Wayne Hawbaker.

JOHNSON TOPS ASCoT

 Jason Johnson had the majority of the fans on hand Thursday night for the ASCoT ASCS 360 Tour race at Susquehanna Speedway Park and he didn't disappoint.

 Johnson led the entire 25 lap distance to score the win over Wayne Johnson, Chuck Hebing, Trevor Lewis and Pat Cannon in the Highlands Tire and Service Center sprinter.

WAGNER TAKES

BEDFORD FIRST

 Waylon Wagner raced to a career first late model win Friday at Bedford Speedway.

 Wagner's first win came in exciting fashion as he drove around one of the best -Gary Stuhler- and then pulled away from Stuhler for the big $2,000 payday in the Spring championship.

 Stuhler, Travis Dillman, Bob Salathe and DJ Troutman completed the top five with Lupfer finishing seventh.

 Shawn Claar won the limited late models with Newville's Donnie Farling finishing in the seventh spot.

HOLLEY TOPS SHIP

 Duncannon's Mike Holley raced to his first win of the season in Saturday's 600 Micro Sprint main at Shippensburg Speedway.

 Holley started on the front row and led distance in the win over Bo Gordon, Shippensburg's Rich Halter, Dustin Sheffield and Jeff Halligan.

OTHER WEEKEND ACTION

 Jan Luckenbaugh won the 600 Micro Sprint feature Saturday at Trail-Way over Shippensburg's Dwayne Gutshall, Carlisle's Ricky Stonebraker and the Enola brother duo of Jake Murphy and Ben Murphy. Mechanicsburg's Chad Hough was 10th, Dillsburg's Brianna Hershey 18th and Newville's Timmie Barrick 22nd.

 Mike Boyer was the 270 Micro winner at Trail-Way over Nik Gower, Dave Schreiber, Todd Hoover and Bob Maxwell, Jr. while Donnie Hendershot won the Sidewinders 1000cc sprint main over Sean Campbell, Mark Strickler, Carlisle's Rohan Beasley and Kerry Schanz.

 David Gravel was the 600 Micro Sprint winner Saturday at Hill Valley Speedway ahead of Jim Brookens, Ryan Greth, Tyler Walton and Tim Dietz. Carlisle's Greg Kone was seventh, Carlisle's Dave Thrush 12th and Carlisle's Jason Hall 21st. Thrush was the Hard charger.

 Selinsgrove, Port Royal and Susquehanna were all rained out on Saturday night after thunderstorms hit the Central Pennsylvania area.
