TodayFair extends deadline for Home Products pre-entries

Article RatingThe Shippensburg Community Fair will require pre-entry in the Home Products exhibits this year. The deadline for entries has been extended to July 18.
Complete details, including the pre-entry forms and contest information, can be obtained from the Shippensburg Fair Web site at www.shippensburgfair.com. From the home page, click on the “Exhibitor” tab and follow the links.
Chocolate contests
The Baked Goods department will be once again hold special contests.
The Hershey Cocoa Classic Baked Goods Cake contest and the Youth Hershey Cocoa Classic Baked Goods Baking Chips contest are co-sponsored by Hershey Foods Corp. and the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs.
More than 100 fairs across the state participate in the Hershey Cocoa Classic. This preliminary competition leads to the selection of the final selection of the Hershey Cocoa Classic blue ribbon winner each January at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show.
Angel food cake
The angel food cake contest is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Egg Quality Assurance Program and the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs. This preliminary competition qualifies exhibitors to enter the state competition at the Farm Show in January.
Apple pie
The Pennsylvania Blue Ribbon Apple Pie contest is sponsored by Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs. This preliminary competition qualifies exhibitors to enter the state competition at the Farm Show.
Decorated cakes
In honor of the 50th anniversary, this year the Shippensburg fair is also having a decorated cake contest. This contest is sponsored by the Shippensburg Fair Association.
