Upcoming events for Aug. 27-31 in the Shippensburg Area School District are listed below.

* Monday marks the beginning of the 2007-08 school year for students in the Shippensburg Area School District.

* Nancy Grayson and James Burd elementary schools will hold first-grade open houses Tuesday. Programs will begin at 6 p.m. at Nancy Grayson and at 6:15 p.m. at James Burd.

* School pictures will be taken Wednesday at Shippensburg Area Middle School.

* Second- and third-grade open houses will be held Thursday at Nancy Grayson and James Burd elementary schools. Second-grade programs will begin at 6 p.m. at both schools. Third-grade programs will begin at 7:15 p.m. at Nancy Grayson, and at 7:30 p.m. at James Burd.

* Shippensburg Area Middle School will kick off its magazine sales fundraiser Thursday. Magazine sales post cards for family and friends are due back Friday.
