Attempted robbery in vehicle
Two men attempted to rob a woman while she was in a vehicle in downtown Carlisle Wednesday, according to Carlisle Borough police.
Police said the woman, 46, was in the first block of West Locust Street near North Hanover Street about 1:20 a.m. when two males grabbed her driver’s side door handle and yelled for her to give them her money. The doors were locked, police said, and the woman was not injured.
One of the males is described as black and in his early 20s wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, police said. Police said there is no description of the second male.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 243-5252.
Woman reports threatening call
State police at Carlisle said a 59-year-old West Pennsboro Township woman reported receiving a threatening phone call Tuesday.
The woman, of the 500 block of Big Spring Road, got the call from a man she knows about 9:44 p.m., police said. They said the man threatened to kill her.
Car-parking cash stolen
A man who parked cars on his property during Carlisle Events’ fall car show last weekend reported that approximately $800 he made doing so was stolen from his home.
Carlisle police said the man, who lives in the 1400 block of Spring Road, reported that the cash was stolen between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday.
Video game systems stolen
Three video game systems were stolen Monday from a residence in Carroll Township, Perry County.
State police at Newport said the systems included a Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS and were taken from a residence in the 500 block of Windy Hill Road between 4:30 and 9:30 p.m.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call 567-3110.
Man charged with assault
A man was charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief after a dispute in downtown Carlisle Sunday morning.
Carlisle police said they arrested Devon Lee Ruoss, 30, of the 500 block of North Bedford Street, after the 6:30 a.m. incident in the same area. The other party was a 38-year-old woman, police said.
Ruoss was treated at a hospital for injuries and then taken to Cumberland County Prison, where he was held on out-of-county warrants, police said.
Speeding drivers cited
State police at Carlisle have released a list of drivers who were cited for driving more than 90 mph in Cumberland County in September.
Cited drivers were Andrew P. Woodward, 21, of Boiling Springs, 104 mph; Nikole Bosley, 24, of West Virginia, 97 mph; Mridulak Regulagadda, 31, of Bensalem, 106 mph; Brian V. Ott, 44, of Shippensburg, 92 mph; Lydia Nikac, 24, of Jermyn, 108 mph; and Adam Miller, 26, of Lebanon, 104 mph.
Also, Amanda Kahl, 18, of Hershey, 97 mph; Justin Herrington, 19, of Downingtown, 92 mph; Joseph Diffenderfer, 21, of Mechanicsburg, 91 mph; Manuel Avila, 21, of Washington, 100 mph; Carol D. Gossert, 35, of Shippensburg, 91 mph; Ronnie Perry, 31, of New York, 92 mph; and Brenda Bryant, 45, of Waynesboro, 92 mph.
School bus hit in accident
A school bus with 28 students on board and a car collided Tuesday at the intersection of South Orange Street and West Pomfret Street in Carlisle.
Police say Andrew Joseph Stets, 17, of Mt. Holly Springs, made a right turn in front of the bus at 7:32 a.m.
Stets was traveling west on West Pomfret Street and told police he thought the intersection was a four-way stop instead of a two-way stop.
Driven by S. Jeanette Jenkins, 67, of Carlisle, the 2003 Chevrolet bus was heading north on South Orange Street, taking students to Carlisle High School.
Stets stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to make the turn, where the two vehicles collided at low speeds. Neither vehicle required towing and each sustained minor damage, police say.
School medical staff looked at the students once they reached the school, police say. Two students complained of neck pain, police say.
Notification to the parents and guardians were handled by the school.
Counterfeit goods confiscated
East Pennsboro Township police arrested a North Carolina man for allegedly transporting counterfeit apparel from New York City to his home state for resale.
Police say officers investigated a man in a green GMC van parked Wednesday at the Uni-Mart on Wertzville Road in Enola.
Police allege Moustapha Moussa Adamou, 24, of Greensboro had $13,000 worth of counterfeit Nike Shoes and $1,800 worth of True Religion Jeans.
Officers arrested Adamou on a felony trademark counterfeiting crimes code violation. He was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Richard S. Dougherty and taken to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of bail.
His 1999 GMC van was seized for forfeiture proceedings by the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office.
1 hurt in 2-car crash
A Boiling Springs area woman was injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident at West Trindle and Boiling Springs roads in Silver Spring Township.
Police say Teresa Garstecki, 36, was transported to Carlisle Regional Medical Center for unknown injuries following the 6:58 p.m. accident. Garstecki was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police say Garstecki was driving a 2006 Volvo S40 west on West Trindle Road when her vehicle was struck as she waited to make a left turn onto Boiling Springs Road.
Police say the front center of a 1987 Ford Escort wagon, driven by a 17-year-old boy from Gardners, struck the left rear of the Volvo. Both vehicles came to a controlled stop in a parking lot on the side of the roadway.
The teenager was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had paraphernalia in his possession, police say.
All occupants were wearing seat belts. Wheeler’s Towing, Monroe Fire Department and fire police assisted at the scene.
Burglary probed
State police in Carlisle are investigating a burglary Oct. 4 in the first block of Old State Road, Dickinson Township.
Wendy Flickinger of Gardners told police someone entered her property between 4 and 7:30 p.m. and removed her wallet.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 249-2121.
Man hurt in collision
A Plainfield-area man suffered minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in the 900 block of Walnut Bottom Road, South Middleton Township.
Police say Edward Franco, 55, was driving a BMW motorcycle along the road around 5:10 p.m. when a Chevrolet Astro driven by Philip Shevlin, 51, of Carlisle pulled into his path.
Franco was not able to stop in time and laid the motorcycle on its side before coming into contact with the mini-van, police say.
Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
Driver injured
A Shermans Dale man suffered minor injuries Tuesday after his pickup truck went off Fox Hollow Road in Carroll Township, Perry County.
Jeffrey L. Roush, 19, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger east in the first block of Fox Hollow when he lost control on wet roads around 8 p.m.
The truck sustained major front end damage. Police were assisted at the scene by Shermans Dale fire and ambulance services.
