Wilson business breakfast will focus on mortgage market
“The Collapse of the U.S. Residential Mortgage Market: What Went Wrong and What’s Next?” is the topic of the first biannual Wilson College Community Partner Breakfast, to be held from 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, in Sarah’s Coffeehouse on the lower level of Lenfest Commons.
A panel of representatives from area businesses and Wilson faculty members and administrators will discuss the causes of the mortgage crisis and the implications not only for the national economy, but also for the typical Franklin County business owner.
Faculty members from Wilson’s Business and Economics Department and representatives from Orrstown Bank, F&M Trust, The First National Bank of Greencastle and Patriot Federal Credit Union are among those expected to participate.
First in series
The event is planned as the first of a series of breakfast meetings to be held each fall and spring to bring together representatives of the college and its local business partners to talk about current topics of interest. One of the college’s goals is to help the community get to know Wilson’s business faculty members better, according to Kathie Berard, Wilson vice president for corporate, foundation and community relations.
“The college views itself as a very strong resource to the regional business community,” Berard said. “As an educational institution, we are also committed to continuing to bring timely topics to the forefront for important discussions. This topic is real and relevant. It’s a great place to begin this new initiative.”
Partner of Year
The Wilson College 2007-08 Community Partner of the Year will also be named at the breakfast. The winner of this honor holds the Crystal Cup at its place of business for the upcoming year. Employees of Wilson College Community Partners may attend the breakfast free of charge. Admission for the general public is $10 per person.
Tickets will be available at the door. Reservations are requested from those who plan to attend. Make reservations by Friday, Dec. 7 by e-mailing wilsonfund@wilson.edu or calling 262-2010.
