The Grammy-nominated Eaken Piano Trio will present its “Home For The Holidays” concert to benefit Project SHARE on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral On the Square in Carlisle. For more information, call Project SHARE at 249-7773.

The Carlisle Town Band under the direction of Bernie Pitkin will present a concert of “Christmas Songs” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Carlisle Theater, 44 W. High St., Carlisle. There will be a nice variety of Christmas music. Songs like, “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, “Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis” by Claude T. Smith, “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” by Leon Jessel, “Jingle Bells” by Morton Gould and many more. Come and bring your friends and neighbors to a good old fashion band concert of Christmas music. Carlisle Musical Arts Club will present its monthly recital and reception on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Carlisle Civic Club, 264 W. Pomfret St. Performing will be Karen Matangos, soprano; Cynthia Gorski, guitar; Lori Elliot, flute; Carol Turner, piano; Beth Greenburg, clarinet, Craig Jurgensen, oboe; and Cynthia Reinecker, bassoon. Program director is Susan Ostrowski. The recital is free and open to the public.

Michael Cleveland and his band Flamekeeper will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at “Best of Bluegrass at the Holly Inn,” in Holly Inn’s Banquet Hall, 31 S. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs. Michael Cleveland is the hottest attraction in bluegrass not only because he is blind but also because of his blistering and unconventional fiddle style. The St. Paul’s Brass Quintet will present concerts of Christmas music They will present an entertaining program of sacred and secular music including carols and secular selections. Several pieces will be presented with brass and organ. The concert is free and free-will offerings will be accepted.

Carlisle High School will host a holiday concert on Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. in McGowan Auditorium. Performing groups include the Concert Band and Symphonic Band, directed by Dave Rohrer and Victor Wertz, and the Concert Choir and Singers Unlimited show choir directed by Cheryl Parsons. The groups will combine for a finale. The concert is free and open to the public.

Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Road, South Middleton Township, will present the group Re-Creation and its “An Evening Of Christmas” program on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. The program will feature all your favorite secular and sacred Christmas standards in a glow of Christmas pageantry. Orchard Springs Fellowship, 2140 Carlisle Road, Aspers, will present the music ministry of Randy Simpson on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. Simpson, a Boiling Springs resident, will present the songs of the season in a southern gospel format. The Messiah College Brass Choir will present their annual winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in Hostetter Chapel on the college’s Grantham campus. Under the direction of Michael A. Harcrow, assistant professor of music at Messiah College, the group will perform a program of sacred and secular music for the full brass choir in addition to performances by the trumpet ensemble and student brass quintets. Works to be performed include “Aubade” by American composer Steven Winteregg, “Fanfares” by Andre Ameller and the well-known “Sine Nomine” by Ralph Vaughn Williams. The Capital Chorale, Penn State Harrisburg’s chorus, will present a concert in celebration of the holiday season. Majestic Theater, 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, presents “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” the Christmas show of the gospel group The Blind Boys of Alabama, on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The group, performing since 1939, has won several Grammy awards and an Obie for off-Broadway theater with their gospel and blues-influenced performances. “Home for the Holidays” featuring the highly acclaimed Eaken Piano Trio will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the home of Bill and Maxine Gindlesperger, 165 Highfield Lane North, Chambersburg. The Susquehanna Folk Music Society will present “A Concert of Music for the Holiday Season and More!” featuring Priscilla Herdman, Anne Hills and Cindy Mangsen, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Historical Society Museum, 250 E. Market St., York. Priscilla, Anne and Dindy bring intricate arrangements to a wide body of music with an art-song vocal styling that crosses the boundaries of folk and classical music. St. Paul Special Events will host the Chambersburg Area Senior High School Choristers and Equires in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the church nave at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. Under the direction of Robert Eyer Jr., these talented student performers will entertain and delight all with their large repertoire of both sacred and secular seasonal favorites. From the bells of the Barker Tower of the Mercersburg Academy Chapel, the remaining 2007 Carillon Concerts, featuring resident Carillonneur James W. Visitors are encouraged to climb the tower before the performance or sit inside the chapel during inclement weather.
