Four area basketball teams are gearing up for the 2008 PIAA state playoffs.

In boys’ Class-AAAA hoops, Red Land will face District 1 No. 3 seed Pennsbury at Coatesville High School on Saturday. Game time is 2:30 p.m. Also on Saturday, Mechanicsburg will square off with District 6 No. 1 seed State College at Tyrone Middle School -- game time is 6 p.m.

In Class-AA action, today’s District 3-AA boys’ finals will decide where Trinity will be headed Saturday for the PIAA first round. Should the Shamrocks defeat Delone Catholic and win the district title, they will face District 6 No. 3 seed Central Martinsburg at a site and time to be determined. If Trinity loses, it will tangle with District 4 No. 3 seed Southern Columbia, also to be held at a site and time to be determined.

The Trinity girls will face District 4 No. 3 seed Lewisburg in the PIAA Class-AA first round at Milton Hershey School. Game time is 5 p.m.
