Shaun Bollinger wasn’t really expecting anything when his fiancee, Michelle Golightly, clicked on an online ad and entered a red carpet contest.

It was a pleasant surprise when they got a phone call a week later telling them they were one of 18 couples out of 1,800 that would move on for a chance to get married at the premiere of Columbia Pictures’ new movie, “Made of Honor,” starring Patrick Dempsey.

Another week passed and now Bollinger and Golightly, a Carlisle High School grad, are among the final four couples across the nation.

“When you enter these things, you don’t expect to get anything back,” said Bollinger, of Hampden Township. “We were stunned.”

Golightly, of Camp Hill, and Bollinger entered the “Get Married at the Premiere” contest, which will give the winning couple a wedding on the red carpet April 28..

The prospect of a large crowd lining the red carpet doesn’t faze either of the pair.

“I think for most people it might be a little scary, but for us, we’ll be fine,” Golightly said. “As long as he’s there, that’s all I care about.”

It doesn’t hurt that the winning couple will get a few extra gifts, including a designer gown to keep for the bride, wedding bands, 10 passes into the premiere and free rides for two guests, most likely the maid of honor and one of Bollinger’s best men.

Voters choose

To get there, though, Golightly, who teaches second grade at The Christian School of Grace Baptist Church in Carlisle, and Bollinger will need help from those online.

Voting on the four finalists began on Monday and will continue online at Sony’s official Web site for “Made of Honor” until April 11. The winner will be announced on “Entertainment Tonight” on April 14.

“This has all just been really fun,” Golightly said, but quickly added, “but we still want to win. We got this far.”

“I never imagined that this would be in the realm of possibility,” Bollinger added. “I’m just going along for the ride. She loves this, and it’s hard not to get excited with her. I mean, you’d never get a chance to do this.”

Others sharing in Bollinger’s excitement are his photography students at Cumberland Valley High School.

“My students are eating it up,” Bollinger said. “A lot of the high schoolers know celebrities and gossip and stuff like this, and they think this is the greatest thing ever.”

Even if the local couple doesn’t quite make it to the red carpet, the two still have plans to marry by the end of the year.

“We had our wedding planned for Aug. 2, and even if we win, we’ll still have that,” Golightly said. “We still want to have one for our friends and family.”

The $1,000 Bed, Bath & Beyond gift card for being one of the final four doesn’t hurt either.
