SCHEDULE: March to Destiny in Shippensburg
March to Destiny events are centered at the camps, in downtown Shippensburg and at the nearby fairgrounds. Registration and the information booth will be in the parking lot of the Shippensburg Public Library at 73 W. King St.
On the Shippensburg University campus, the Little Red Schoolhouse is on the east side of North Earl Street (which becomes the Newburg Road). The Fashion Archives and Museum are on campus in Harley Hall; use the separate, back entrance (the main entrance to the building does not connect to the archives.
The Shape Gallery is at 39 W. King St. and the McLean House is at 80 W. King St., almost directly across from the library. The gazebo is between 133 and 135 W. King St.
Today
Noon: Registration begins at police station parking lot on Burd Street.
6 p.m.: Camps open to the public at borough and Shippensburg University.
6:30-7 p.m.: Firing demonstration at Union Camp.
7 p.m.: Horse-drawn wagon rides at municipal parking lot on Burd Street.
7-9 p.m.: Open house at Georgian House, 20 W. King St.
8 p.m.: Historic presentation by Wayne Wachsmuth at the gazebo on West King Street.
8:30 p.m.: Grand Illumination in downtown Shippensburg.
8:30 p.m.: Litany of Remembrance at the gazebo with Father Ted Babcock. The gazebo is between 133 and 135 W. King St.
8:30-9 p.m.: Candlelight Walking Tour begins at the gazebo; Steve Burg of Shippensburg University will give an informal talk about historic buildings and events in Shippensburg related to the Civil War.
11 p.m.: Camps closed to the public.
Saturday
7-9 a.m.: Community breakfast with re-enactors at the Community Center on South Fayette Street.
8 a.m.: Camps open to the public.
9 a.m.: Sutlers at Sutler Camp.
9 a.m.: Blacksmith at Shippensburg Public Library, 73 W. King St.
9 a.m.: Food vendors at library.
9-11 a.m.: Little Red School House open along Earl Street on the SU campus.
9-11 a.m.: Children’s period games near Little Red School House on SU campus.
9-11 a.m.: Horse-drawn wagon rides at municipal parking lot on Burd Street.
10-5 p.m.: Living history programs at the library.
10 a.m. to noon: Fashion Archives and Museum exhibit, “Garibaldis, Engageantes and Cages: American Fashions of the Civil War Era, 1840-1870,” in Harley Hall at SU.

10-11 a.m.: Myra Reichart will discuss “The Language of Fans and Parasols” at McLean House.
10:30-11 a.m.: Gen. Longstreet will discuss “The Life and Times” at the library.
10:30-2 p.m.: Civil War Mannequins on display at East Meets West, 29 E. King St.
11-11:30 a.m.: Gen. Grant will give a presentation at the library.
11:15 a.m. to noon: Jim Warehime will present “Drill Like a Real Soldier,” a program for children at the library.
11:30 a.m. to noon: Mrs. Grant will discuss “Women’s Hats and Bonnets” at the Shape Gallery, 39 W. King St.
11:30-12:30 p.m.: Foraging Through Town at downtown merchants.
Noon to 12:30 p.m.: President Lincoln will discuss “Childhood Memories” at the library.
12:30-1:30 p.m.: Myra Reichart will present the program. “We Believed They Would Never Come,” at the Shape Gallery.
1-2 p.m.: Karin Bohleke, director of the SU Fashion Archives and Museum, will discuss “Women’s Clothing and All the Unmentionables” at the McLean House, 80 W. King St.
1 p.m.: Period Music by “Gilmore’s Light Ensemble” at the library.
1:30 p.m.: Cake Walk at the library ($1 donation per walk).
2:15-2:45 p.m.: Mrs. Grant will discuss “Women’s Hats and Bonnets” at the Shape Gallery.
2 p.m.: King Street closed to traffic.
2:30 p.m.: Victorian (Italian Ice) Social at the McLean House.
2:45 p.m.: Opening ceremonies at the library; Emily Cloud will perform the National Anthem.
3 p.m.: King Street Skirmish.
3:45 p.m.: Civil War Parade at the library with civilians and President Lincoln’s Grand Review of Troops.
6 p.m.: Renewal of Wedding Vows at the gazebo with the Rev. Kevin Hughes.
7 p.m.: Shippensburg Town Band will perform at the library.
8-10 p.m.: Victorian Ball with music by “Gilmore’s Light Ensemble” at Naugle Motors, 608 W. King St.
11 p.m.: Camps closed to the public.
Sunday
8 a.m.: Camps open to the public.
10-10:30 a.m.: Church service with the Rev. Wayne Baker at the library.
1 p.m.: Scripted Tactical Battle narrated by Wayne Wachsmuth, a licensed battlefield guide, at the Shippensburg fairgrounds (donation requested).
2 p.m.: Dale Gallon print, “Born to be Brothers,” raffle drawing.
3 p.m.: Camps closed to the public.
