Jerry Lee Ott, 45, turned himself in to Cumberland County Probation Department Wednesday afternoon and was arraigned Thursday.

Ott was moved to Franklin County Jail where he is held on $300,000 bail pending a July 22 preliminary hearing.

State police at Chambersburg say Ott struck the trooper in the head and knocked him to the ground at 10:22 p.m. on Sunday after a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 81.

Police say Ott fled on foot after the traffic stop, stopping to strike the trooper, then disappearing near mile marker 23 on the interstate in Southampton Township Franklin County.

Police cruisers and a helicopter patrolled Ott’s neighborhood in the Walnut Dale Road area of Southampton Township, Cumberland County, Monday with no positive results.
