Missing SU professor found dead
A Shippensburg University professor who had been reported missing Wednesday was found dead near his Carlisle home Thursday afternoon.
Carlisle police, assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police, dispatched a helicopter Thursday morning to search for William Pritchard, 45. His body was found outside Hanover Manor in a brush-covered area to the rear of his apartment building adjacent to the LeTort Run.
The death does not appear to be suspicious, according to the Cumberland County Coroner’s office. Carlisle Police and the Coroner’s office are continuing the investigation.
Pritchard was reported missing at 1 p.m. Wednesday, when a family member became concerned for his well-being, according to police. He was an assistant professor who taught courses in the public relations emphasis, according to the university.
