The driver of a newer model gray Pontiac who stole $27.99 in gas from Sheetz at 1900 Ritner Highway at 12:48 p.m. Saturday also had a stolen license plate, according to Carlisle police.

The Pennsylvania registration GZP9694 had been reported stolen from Mechanicsburg, police said. The driver was described as a male wearing a white or light-colored T-shirt and dark calf-length shorts who drove the car, possibly at G8, toward Interstate 81, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about the theft to call 243-5252.
