Blane Heimbach moved to within one win from moving into a tie as Selinsgrove Speedway’s all-time leading 358 Sprint car winner with an impressive win in Saturday night’s 30-lap Jack Gunn Memorial 358 Sprint/URC Challenge at the track.

Heimbach’s third career win in the Gunn Memorial was his 24th overall at the track, one within tying Chad Layton as the all-time leading winner. He also tied Todd Shaffer as the only driver to win the race in Gunn’s memory three times.

The event saw many leaders during the early laps as Ed Aiken led for two laps before suffering a flat tire, turning the lead over to Larry Kelleher.

URC female racer Becca Anderson took over the top spot on lap five but her car stopped with problems two laps later, turning the lead back to Kelleher.

Track points leader Pat Cannon, who started 14th, drove into the lead on the seventh lap as Heimbach, who started third, moved by Kelleher for second on lap 15.

Heimbach made the race-winning move on Cannon on lap 25 and drove off to a near three-second victory for the big $3,500 payday in the Jeff and Missy Creasy owned No. 12 sprinter.

Cannon finished second in the Zane and Vicki Highlands owned sprinter with Kelleher third, URC point leader and five time champion Curt Michael fourth and Selinsgrove regular Nate Snyder fifth.
