A man accused of raping a young girl over a span of three years was formally arraigned this week in Cumberland County Courthouse.

William Denni Hesse, 23, of the 100 block of A Street, Carlisle, is accused of taking a female under the age of 13 into his bedroom and the attic of his house from 1999 to 2002, according to court papers.

“Hesse would tell the victim, ‘Don’t tell, it’s our secret,’” Carlisle police wrote in court documents. Hesse also made the girl perform oral sex on him on numerous occasions, police wrote.

A complaint was made in 2007 and, following an investigation, charges were filed at the beginning of this year, police said. Hesse faces charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child and indecent assault of a child.

Court records indicate Hesse was released on $5,000 unsecured bail posted on Feb. 15 of this year and is scheduled for trial in September. His attorney, Katie James Maxwell, declined comment Monday.
