Woman in critical condition after crash
Darla F. Hoch was in critical condition at Penn State Hershey Medical Center Sunday morning after she hit an embankment at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in North Newton Township, according to state police at Carlisle.
Hoch, 58, of Newburg, was not wearing a seat belt and apparently missed a turn on Route 388 about 50 feet east of Route 641 and hit the embankment. Her vehicle went airborne and overturned upon landing, police said.
Hoch was flown to Hershey with unknown injuries, police said, noting that she was unconscious when the helicopter left for the hospital. No further information was available.
Three injured in Monroe Township crash
Jason R. Reisinger, Amber M. Burkholder and Donald W. Russell were all taken to hospitals with injuries of unknown severity after a crash at 3:50 p.m. Friday in Monroe Township, according to state police at Carlisle.
Reisinger, 24, of Newville, was driving a 1995 Dodge Intrepid east on Route 174 and, unaware of the stop sign at the intersection with West Lisburn Road, hit a 1996 SL1 Saturn driven by Russell, 49, of New Bloomfield. Russell, who was headed north on West Lisburn Road, had stopped and then proceeded into the intersection, police said.
Russell wore a seat belt, police said, but Reisinger and his passenger, Burkholder, 21, of Newvillle, did not.
Russell was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital. Reisinger and Burkholder were taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center, police said. Condition reports were not available Sunday.
Reisinger was charged with a stop sign violation, police said.
Minor injury in crash
Jennifer Stoltenberg reported minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash in South Middleton Township at 1:48 p.m. Friday, according to state police at Carlisle.
Troy Stoltenberg, 38, of the first block of Pine Tree Drive, Newville, was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon east on York Road when he slowed down for a vehicle turning left in front of him and was rear-ended by a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Linda Beichler, 58, of Waggoner’s Gap Road, Landisburg, police said.
Both operators wore seat belts, police said, and Jennifer Stoltenberg, who was Stoltenberg’s passenger along with a 3-year-old and a 12-year-old, refused EMS treatment.
No further information was available at press time.
Forks, hot dogs stuck in West Pennsboro lawn
State police at Carlisle are investigating an incident in which they say someone stuck about 45 forks with hot dogs on their prongs into the yard of a 66-year-old woman in West Pennsboro Township Friday.
The incident happened between midnight and 3 a.m. in the 1600 block of Newville Road, police said.
Truck damaged in Upper Allen
An apparent attempt to hotwire and steal a black F-250 truck failed, according to Upper Allen Township police.
The attempt happened in the last two weeks, police said, noting that the truck was parked in the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Bishop Road. The attempt damaged the truck’s wiring, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 238-9676, or the anonymous tip line at 591-3790.
PlayStation reported stolen
A PlayStation 2 video game console and various DVDs were reported stolen from a home in Monroe Township Aug. 1, according to state police at Carlisle.
The home is in the 800 block of West Trindle Road, police said. The theft is believed to have occurred during a July 4 party at the home.
Threats lead to charges
Brandon Anthony Hamilla was arrested Wednesday on charges of terroristic threats, retaliation against a victim, harassment, and violation of orders after he reportedly walked over to a woman with whom a judge had ordered him to have no contact and told her he was going to kill her, according to Carlisle police.
The incident happened at 9:15 p.m. in the 100 block of South East Street, police said, noting that the 28-year-old female victim was outside talking to two other people when Hamilla, 19, of Carlisle, showed up in a vehicle.
The woman was a victim and Hamilla was a defendant in a previous case, police said, with one of Hamilla’s conditions of bail being no contact with her.
After the threat the woman ran inside and called the department, police said, at which Hamilla left. However, they said, he came back to the scene while officers were still there and was arrested.
Hamilla was lodged in Cumberland County Prison and denied bail, according to court records. He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before Cumberland County Magisterial District Judge Jessica Brewbaker at 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 8.
Carlisle man charged with simple assault
Doron Akiba-Ayton Geiger was arrested on charges of simple assault and harassment on July 25 after he reportedly hit a woman several times, choked her and threatened her, according to Carlisle police.
Geiger, 33, is of the 500 block of Cherry Court, Carlisle, police said, and officers were sent to the area after they received reports of a woman screaming for help.
Police found a 29-year-old woman visibly upset outside the home, they said, but later reported that she was in good condition. The charges were held for court following a preliminary hearing, and Geiger remains in Cumberland County Prison on $1,500 bail, according to court records.
Burglary attempt in Shippensburg
Someone attempting to gain entry to a Shippensburg home Friday broke the glass on a French door, according to state police at Carlisle.
The home is in the 200 block of Chestnut Drive, police said, and they believe the breaking glass scared away the burglar, who is not believed to have gained entry to the home.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 249-2121.
Missing teen returns home
A 15-year-old boy whose parents reported that he had been missing since the beginning of July returned home on his own, according to Carlisle police.
Police announced Sunday that Colton Longacre, 15, returned early Friday evening. Longacre was found to have run away, police said, and no foul play was suspected.
