Police list speeders
State police at Carlisle have released a list of drivers cited for driving in excess of 90 mph in Cumberland County in July.
They are as follows: Joey E. Stoops, 20, of Waynesboro, 93 mph; Greyson Williams, 25, of Charlottesville, Va., 91 mph; Celeste Prior, 21, of Bethlehem, 95 mph; and Jeffrey E. Boorler, 24, of Randolph, N.J.
Minor injuries in Carlisle crashes
Carlisle police have reported a number of recent crashes involving minor injuries.
• On Aug. 1 at 3:12 p.m., Jay R. Depner, 48, of the 600 block of South Ridge Road, Mechanicsburg, was driving a silver 2006 Toyota south on Allen Road near the intersection with Logistics Drive when he hit the back of a white 1998 Nissan driven by Ahmend M. Kariye, 29, of Harrisburg, police said.
The Nissan then hit the back of a blue 2001 Ford driven by Justin C. Tressler, 32, of the 400 block of Arch Street, Carlisle, which in turn hit the back of a red 2001 Ford driven by Tara L. Young, 37, of the 800 block of Sandbank Road, Mt. Holly Springs, police said.
Depner, who was cited for a traffic violation, told police he was looking for something in his overhead driver’s sun visor and had taken his eyes off the road.
Both Depner and Kariye’s vehicles were towed, police said, and Kariye was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center with neck pain.
• On Aug. 1 at 12:10 p.m., Joseph L. Moffitt, 25, of the 400 block of Fairground Avenue, Carlisle, was riding a red and silver Mongoose bicycle east on the first block of West Louther Street when he hit the front of a blue 2008 Toyota driven south on Morris Avenue by Nancy J. Wagaman, 60, of the first block of North Morris Street, Shippensburg, police said.
Wagaman said her car had been stopped at the time, police said, and both she and Moffitt agreed the crash was his fault.
Moffitt had pain in his left leg and swelling on the shin, police said, but refused treatment.
• On Aug. 1 about 3 p.m. Ryan Serkis, 34, of the 700 block of Hamilton Court, Carlisle, was riding a silver K2 bicycle west in the 100 block of West North Street when he hit a parked silver 2004 Saturn, police said. Serkis and witnesses reported that a cat ran out in front of him, causing him to swerve and hit the car. He was thrown over the handlebars and hit the vehicle face first, police said.
Serkis was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor head injuries, police said, and was later charged with operating a bicycle while under the influence of alcohol.
• Douglas Taylor, 30, of the 500 block of North West Street, Carlisle, complained of back pain after a crash at 10:40 a.m. Aug. 1 but said he would drive himself to the hospital, police said.
Taylor was a passenger in a red 2000 Nissan driven west on North Street by Gayle L. Hande, 27, of the 500 block of North West Street, Carlisle, police said. The Nissan was hit by a green 2004 Chevy driven north on Hanover Street by Brian Pierce, 23, of the 500 block of Center Road, Newville, police said.
Pierce admitted to running the red light after being distracted by a cell phone call, police said. He was cited for a traffic violation.

Motorcyclist hurt on Baltimore Pike
A York Springs area man suffered a major injury at 5:40 p.m. Sunday after his motorcycle struck a guard rail along the Baltimore Pike in South Middleton Township.
State police at Carlisle say David A. Green, 46, was transported by Life Lion helicopter to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he was in critical condition this morning.
Police say Green was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on the Baltimore Pike just south of Yankee Drive when he failed to negotiate a left curve.
The motorcycle struck a guard rail, causing Green to fall as the motorcycle continued south, police say. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Yellow Breeches EMS and Citizens Fire Company from Mt. Holly Springs.
Two charged with harassment
State police in Carlisle charged two people with terroristic threats and harassment following an incident July 27 in the first block of Carlisle Road, West Pennsboro Township.
Police say Michele A. Ditzler, 33, of Newville was arguing with a 30-year-old Newville-area woman at 8:19 p.m. A fight ensued when Ditzler shoved and struck the victim, police say.
Timothy L. Ditzler, 37, also of Newville then grabbed the victim by the back of the neck and threatened her, police say.
Police investigate burglary
State police at Carlisle are investigating a burglary overnight Monday in the first block of Liberty Drive, Mt. Holly Springs.
Police say someone entered a vehicle owned by a 29-year-old man between 10 p.m. Monday and 7:19 a.m. Tuesday. Once inside, they removed a Motorola cell phone and a Sirius satellite radio.
From there, the burglars entered the victim’s garage and removed four BF Goodrich tires and four Phone Dial Wheels before fleeing with an estimated $1,450 in stolen goods, police say.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 249-2121.
Surgery center burglarized
Bryant General Surgery in the first block of Sprint Drive was burglarized over the weekend, state police at Carlisle say.
Police report that sometime between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Sunday, someone entered the business by force through a rear entry steel door.
Once inside, the burglar rummaged through drawers in several private rooms, leaving drawers ajar, police say. A secured drawer in front of the office was damaged to access a cash box and an unknown amount of cash was removed.
Police say the burglar then entered the main lobby and gained entry into two other offices by smashing the door knob from the door.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 249-2121 and reference incident number HO2-1780331.
Man arrested for PFA violation
A Carlisle-area man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly violated a protection from abuse order filed against him by a woman.
Borough police say Jeffrey Newbury, 43, of the first block of Ridge Avenue had followed the 41-year-old woman and took photos of her while she was out with a male acquaintance about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Newbury was taken to Cumberland County Prison.
Police arrest man for PFA violation
State police at Newport arrested a Shermans Dale-area man Monday after he allegedly violated a protection from abuse order filed against him by a woman.
Police say Jeremy Chad Hockenberry, 22, was taken into custody following an incident involving a 25-year-old woman in the 500 block of Windy Hill Road, Carroll Township.
Driver asleep, vehicle flips
James K. Lyles, 19, of Middletown, fell asleep Sunday while driving on Interstate 81 north near Exit 44 in South Middleton Township, state police at Carlisle say, causing his 2002 GMC Envoy to strike a guide rail and flip onto its roof.
Police say Lyles and a passenger, 17-year-old Amani A. Glenn of Oberlin, suffered minor injuries as a result of the 1:50 a.m. accident. They were treated at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Jogger assaulted in Shippensburg
Police say a woman was a victim of a sexual assault Tuesday afternoon in the West End of Shippensburg.
According to a report from Shippensburg police, the woman was jogging in the 300 block of Lurgan Avenue about 1:30 p.m. when she was attacked by a man 20 to 25 years of age.
The man reportedly was of Hispanic appearance, stood about 6 feet tall, had a thin-to-medium build and short, brown, buzz-cut hair. He was dressed in a white T-shirt and gray or white sweat pants.
Police say he was last seen running to the rear of Nancy Grayson Elementary School.
The woman was not injured, and police did not elaborate on the specifics of the assault.
