Carlisle woman sought on assault charges
Carlisle police have issued an arrest warrant for Amanda Rose Fisher, who is accused of biting a 43-year-old woman in the chest outdoors in the 300 block of West Penn Street at 7:46 p.m. Saturday.
Fisher, 26, is of Carlisle, police say, noting that she is also accused of pushing the older woman and trying to kick her. The older woman had several injuries that were bleeding but is in good condition, police said.
Fisher faces a charge of simple assault/domestic violence, police said.
Police report bulldog fraud
Residents should beware of an Internet scam purportedly involving free English bulldogs from Cameroon, Africa, according to state police at Newport.
Police said a victim of the scam reported finding the Web site, then later being contacted and told to pay $200 via Western Union for insurance on the pet to be flown to the United States. The person was contacted by e-mail several days later and asked to wire an additional $700 to Cameroon Livestock to pay for the paperwork regarding the dog’s shots and everything needed to accompany the pet to the United States so it could be released once it arrived.
Police remind residents to beware of similar scams and frauds and remember not to give personal identification, credit card or banking account numbers to other persons.
One injured in Carlisle crash Wednesday
Tristan D. Ohrum complained of knee and head pain following a crash Wednesday at Noble Boulevard and South West Street but refused treatment, according to Carlisle police.
Ohrum, 19, of the 100 block of Peal Drive, Carlisle, was driving a gray 2003 Mitsubishi north on South West Street at 1:45 p.m. when he stopped at the intersection’s stop sign and then proceeded through the intersection. His vehicle was struck by a white International being driven west on Noble Boulevard by Gerald L. Cramer Jr., 54, of Fayetteville, police said.
Cramer was looking away from the road to a gas station at the time and did not see the stop sign, police said, noting that a witness was present and Cramer was cited.
Ohrum wore a seat belt, police said. His vehicle was towed.
Hit-and-run damages Carlisle pole
A hit-and-run incident involving a tractor-trailer caused about $2,000 in damage to a yellow concrete pole at the intersection of West High and North West streets at 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to Carlisle police.
The driver was making a right turn off West High Street and continued on without stopping, police said. The impact ripped the pole from the ground, along with a large portion of the sidewalk and curb, police said. An underground electrical box was also damaged, police said, but it did not appear that any wires were damaged.
The rig, described as having a black cab and a 53-foot trailer, likely sustained damage to its right side in the incident, police said.
Antique pipe stolen in Perry County
An antique pipe worth $3,500 was reported stolen from an auction in Perry County Saturday, according to state police at Newport.
The pipe had been on a display table in Marysville Lions Park in Marysville between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., police said.
Catalytic converter stolen in Perry County
Someone cut the catalytic converter off a 1997 Dodge Braun van that was parked in a Perry County field between 6 a.m. Aug. 5 and noon Aug. 7, according to state police at Newport.
The incident happened on a farm at the intersection of Cover and Sawmill roads in Penn Township, police said.
Kidnap attempt reported in Lemoyne
West Shore Regional Police are seeking the public’s help in investigating an attempted child abduction that happened in Lemoyne at 7:50 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Apple Street.
Police said a white man in his mid-30s approached a 10-year-old boy and asked him to get in his vehicle to help him look for his dog. The man had blond hair and a blond goatee, police said, and wore a black ski cap with some of the blond hair coming out from under the front of the cap. He was driving a mid-size older passenger car with dark red faded paint
Police ask anyone with information on the incident to call 737-9161.
Bicyclist injured in South Middleton
John N. Lingenfelter was taken to Carlisle Regional Hospital with moderate injuries after he was thrown from his bicycle and hit the windshield of a vehicle Sunday in South Middleton Township, according to state police at Carlisle.
Ardath E. Colbert, 72, of Carlisle, was driving a 1995 Chrysler Cirrus north on Zion Road at 3:49 p.m. and stopped at the stop sign of the Park Drive intersection, police said, but he failed to make sure the path was clear before pulling out and hitting the left side of Lingenfelter’s bike.
Lingenfelter, 61, of Camp Hill, wore a bicycle helmet, police said, and Colbert wore a seat belt. Colbert was cited, police said.
No further information was available by press time this morning.
Carlisle police probe early-morning robberies
Carlisle police are investigating two robberies reported early this morning, saying they can’t rule out the possibility that the two are related based on the times they occurred and the general descriptions of the culprits.
At 1 a.m., officers were called to an assault in progress in the first block of West High Street. They found a 21-year-old man who said he was passing through a walkway between two buildings when three males came up from behind him and told him to “get on the ground.”
The victim complied and gave them his wallet when they asked for it, police said.
The three took his American Express credit card and about $60. They started walking away, police said, but returned and began kicking him when they saw him on his cell phone.
The man, who suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment, described his assailants as thin black males approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short hair or shaved heads, police said. One wore a lime-green polo shirt with white horizontal stripes, while another wore an orange polo shirt and the third wore a hooded sweatshirt of unknown color, police said.
At 1:51 a.m., a 31-year-old man reported he was coming home from the grocery store in the 200 block of East Louther Street when three light-skinned black or Hispanic males jumped him, with one getting on his back and choking him to unconsciousness, police said. The man said they waited for him to regain consciousness, then demanded his wallet.
The man is in good condition, police said.

Six teens cited for curfew violations
Six teens were cited for curfew violations after being discovered at 1:44 a.m. Tuesday at the Carlisle Community Pool on Franklin Street, where they had been swimming, according to Carlisle police.
There were four 14-year-old boys, one 15-year-old boy and one 16-year-old girl, all from nearby neighborhoods in Carlisle, police said. They were released to their parents after being cited, police said.
Missing Newville teen located
A teenager reported missing recently has been located, according to state police at Carlisle.
Police had asked the public’s help in locating Douglas James “DJ” Baker Jr., 16, of the first block of Big Spring Terrace, Newville, after he ran away from his parents’ West Pennsboro Township home at 10:45 p.m. Monday, they said.
Attempted theft in LeTort Park
Someone apparently tried to break into a concession stand at LeTort Park by throwing a large piece of a cement block into the door, according to Carlisle police.
Police received word of the attempt Thursday and believe it happened sometime between 5 p.m. that day and Aug. 1. Entry was not made to the concession stand and there was no permanent damage, police said.
