Article RatingA Hopewell Township teenager was arraigned Thursday and charged as an adult on felony charges linked to events that occurred in 2003, when he was 14 years old.
State police at Carlisle are withholding his name. He was jailed on $1,000 bond but posted bail shortly afterward and faces a preliminary hearing Sept. 15.
Cumberland County First Assistant District Attorney Jamie Keating approved the charges.
Police say a woman contacted authorities in June to report sexual assaults on her daughter — who was 6 years old at the time — at their home in the first block of Fairview Road in the summer of 2003.
According to the arrest affidavit, the 14-year-old boy forced the 6-year-old to engage in oral sex at their home in June 2003, then engaged in similar acts over the next month.
He is charged with first-degree felony counts of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual assault of a child and aggravated indecent assault of a child, along with incest, a second-degree felony, and indecent assault, a third-degree felony.
