Article RatingDespite the rumors, South Middleton Township will not be getting another cell phone tower.
However, word on the street was not entirely misinformed, as township engineer Brian O’Neill confirmed that CellCo Partnership, representing Verizon Wireless, wants to put an antenna in the area.
“They’re going to be leasing space on the existing tower that’s located in Spring Meadows Park,” O’Neill said.
The township’s code requires that a company must prove it can’t locate on an existing tower before building a new one, he said, and Shentel, representing Sprint, already has a tower in the township, Verizon would merely be adding an antenna to that.
