Bible Baptist’s Steve Hanford tallied three goals in the Bobcats’ 7-0 romp over Conestoga Christian Friday afternoon in boys’ soccer action.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first half and Hanford started the scoring just four minutes in. Devin Wislocky assisted on Hanford’s early goal, and later put in two himself. Ryan Ehring scored twice as well and Erik Johnson put in the final goal. Bible Baptist put up 33 shots to the Cougars’ 10. Josh Buser made seven saves in goal.

Girls’ tennis

Northern 5, Biglerville 2

Northern pulled away to beat Biglerville 5-2 Friday in girls’ tennis. Jenna Hessert won No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 over Tricia Motter. Taylor Nicholson won 6-3, 6-2 over Ale Heller in No. 2 singles.

In No. 3 singles, Jayna Whitcomb won 6-1, 6-4 over Mikayla Trimmer, while Heather Miller and Amy Biggs made it a sweep in singles with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-4 wins.

Biglerville won the doubles matches with scores of 8-1 and 8-0 respectively.

Carlisle 4, Camp Hill 3

Carlisle edged Camp Hill 4-3 in girls’ tennis Friday. The Thundering Herd and Lions split the singles competition. Camp Hill’s Liz Clarke downed Lexi Lausch 6-3, 6-2 in No. 1 singles, but Megan Jin won for the Herd in No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Callie McKeon. Brin Benjamin won over Jessica Caless 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 for the Herd and Meghan Leach got the win over Bonnie Burton 7-5, 6-3 for Camp Hill.

In doubles, Clarke/McKeon won 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 over Lausch/Jin, but Alex Bova and Ashley Reed won over Emily Arndt and Emme Kadel 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Alexa Bryant and Kay Jensen downed Emily McCloskey and Abigale Talbert 7-6 (7-0), 6-3.

Mechanicsburg 7, Middletown 0

Mechanicsburg swept Middletown Friday. Tess Herzenberg won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, while Laura Stokes won 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 Kate Schankweiler won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-4 and Ali Matisse won 6-2, 6-4. In doubles, Megan Varner joined with Herzenberg for a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 victory. Theresa Baugh and Allie Black won 6-0, 6-4. Heather Freberg and Hanna Bennett won 6-2, 6-4.

Girls’ Volleyball

Bible Baptist 3, Conestoga Valley 1


Bible Baptist overcame a 1-0 Conestoga Valley lead to win the next three games and win 3-1 Friday. Game scores were 18-25, 25-11, 25-21, and 25-18. Lydia Deputy finished with eight kills, while teammate Anna Gaudio had seven kills.

Field Hockey

Carlisle 4, Big Spring 0


Carlisle field hockey got its first victory of the season with a 4-0 shutout over Big Spring on Friday.

Rachel West opened up the scoring and Senada Mehmedovic followed with three goals. Carlisle held Big Spring to just two shots.

Big Spring’s Haley Brandt made five saves in goal.

Red Land 2, Susquenita 0

Red Land blanked Susquenita 2-0 Friday in field hockey.

The game was scoreless at the break, but Michelle Guldner broke the 0-0 tie for the Patriots in the second half. Tori Stambaugh added an insurance goal.

Mid-Penn Golf

Mechanicsburg won the team competition in Mid-Penn golf action at Valley Green Golf Course.

The Wildcats registered a 415 team score. Bishop McDevitt was second with 427, while East Pennsboro was third with 435. Mechanicsburg’s Shane Yeakle, McDevitt’s Kevin Ellison and East Penn’s Quint Seidel all shot an 81.
