State police at Carlisle said the assailants, three black and one Hispanic, jumped the victim at 2 p.m. They held him down and stole a cellular telephone and wallet containing cash, a credit card and bank card, police said.

She was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Driver injured in crash

A Harrisburg driver was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center on Wednesday evening after he hit another car at the intersection of North Hanover Street and Spring Road in Carlisle, police said Monday.

Carlisle police said Benjamin L. Smith attempted to make a left onto Spring Road at 8:41 p.m., in front of Darrius J. Misner of Gardners, who was traveling south in the 400 block of North Hanover Street.

Misner told police that he didn’t have time to get out of the way because Smith was going too fast and tried to steer his truck into the parking lot to avoid being hit, police said. After impact, he was slammed into a utility pole on the corner of the intersection.

Both vehicles suffered severe damage and had to be towed from the scene, police said.

The investigation continues, police said.

A pair of SUVs had to be towed from the scene of a West Pennsboro Township collision Monday morning, according to state police at Carlisle.

Police said Tara Beals, 28, of Carlisle, was attempting to enter traffic at the intersection of McAllister Church and Route 641 about 7:45 a.m. when her vehicle hit an SUV being driven by Arthur Tubbs, 49, of Newville.

Both vehicles were disabled. Tubbs suffered minor injuries, police said.

Check scam reported in Perry County

A Perry County man was the victim of a fraudulent check scam, state police at Newport said.

Someone sent a fake check to the Elliotsburg man, who deposited the check at the First National Bank of Mifflintown about noon July 30, police said. The check was later found to be a fraud.

East Pennsboro police have an arrest warrant for the man they say burglarized the Puff N Snuff and the Beer stores in Enola Friday and carried out other burglaries over the weekend.

Chris Ballek of West Fairview is being charged with two counts each of burglary and theft by unlawful taking. Ballek is also sought in connection with the theft of a beige Nissan Maxima Sunday and burglaries at two auto repair shops in Enola and a hardware store in West Fairview Monday.

Police ask anyone with information about Ballek’s whereabouts or about the crimes that took place Sunday and Monday to call them at 732-3633 or 238-9676.
