ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania man is in jail after a DNA test found he almost certainly fathered a sixth-grader’s child.

Forty-two-year-old Michael Dean Frederick of Altoona has been charged with several counts of rape and sexual assault. Police say Frederick is listed as a sex offender on the state’s Megan’s Law Web site.

Frederick’s arrest on Monday ends a monthslong investigation into who impregnated the girl. Two other men underwent DNA testing, including 20-year-old Curtis Adrian Walk of Altoona. Walk has also been charged with abusing the girl. Police say Walk admitted to having sexual relations with her.

A recent DNA test, conducted with blood obtained through a search warrant, found there was a 99.99 percent chance Frederick was the baby’s father.
