Wanted man charged for drugs
Charges were filed Thursday against a Carlisle man found with a “baggie” of cocaine, according to Carlisle police.
Police said they observed Labronte Shields, 21, of the 400 block of North Hanover Street, around 10 a.m. Aug. 8, riding in a vehicle in the 100 block McBride Avenue.
Shields had active warrants out for his arrest at the time police pulled the vehicle over. A search yielded the cocaine, police said.
Three checks forged
A Carlisle woman is accused of forging and cashing three checks worth $450 between Aug. 25 and Aug. 28.
Carlisle police said Ashley R. Barrick, 21, cashed the checks at Members 1st Federal Credit Union branches at the Carlisle Giant Foods Store and Spring Road.
Charges of forgery and theft by deception were filed against Barrick through Magisterial District Judge Jessica Brewbaker’s office.
Barrick is in Cumberland County Prison on a bench warrant for failure to appear on unrelated charges, police said.
Illness leads to crash
A Newville woman lost control of her vehicle about 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Whiskey Run Road in Upper Mifflin Township.
According to state police at Carlisle, Jennifer McConaghie suffered a medical condition causing her to lose control of the vehicle and travel off the side of the roadway through the brush. McConaghie was treated at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Argument leads to charges
Shane Maclay, 28, of Carlisle was charged with simple assault Tuesday after an argument in the 200 block of McAllister Church Road in West Pennsboro Township. According to state police at Carlisle, Maclay was arguing with an 18-year-old woman when he became physically aggressive and pushed, choked and bit the victim causing minor injuries. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Vivian Cohick.
