Developer lets down Brook Meadow residents again
Altieri Homes is back in the hot seat in Silver Spring Township after the company’s debt to a waste collector left construction trash piled up in one of its communities.
At a meeting Wednesday, township supervisors heard the latest complaints against the Maryland developer, who is said to owe X/S Waste Transport about $18,000.
Homeowners in the Brook Meadow neighborhood have been dealing with a garbage mess since Oct. 2, when X/S Waste Transport’s attorney advised the collector to abandon the garbage because of the debt, said Police Chief Jim Sadler.
X/S agreed on Oct. 7 to take the materials at the request of township police, he said, and the collector is working on the clean up now.
Before the last collection, Altieri’s debt with X/S Waste was over $17,000, Sadler said.
The developer is also accused of not paying contractors, who are now using mechanic’s liens to get payments from residents in the Foxwood Estates, Gingerfields and Brook Meadow communities.
Darren Altieri did not attend the meeting, but conceded in a recent interview that his company was having financial difficulties.
