A school bus carrying 13 Tuscarora School District students was rear-ended Friday morning on Mercersburg Road in Montgomery Township, state police at Chambersburg said.

All of them were taken to Chambersburg Hospital following the accident. There were no severe injuries and all were treated and released, police said.

According to police, the bus had stopped in the northbound lane, with stop signals utilized, to pick up a student at 7:52 a.m. when the accident occurred. Robert E. Carbaugh, 36, of Mercersburg, was traveling north in a 1998 Dodge Durango when it rear ended the 1999 International Harvester school bus driven by Matthew A. Stahl, 20, of Mercersburg.

The bus was pushed 32 feet forward and the Durango came to rest with its hood under the rear of the school bus.

Carbaugh suffered moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital. He was cited for careless driving, police said.

The bus driver had minor injuries.
