Rahmer closes Lincoln season with 'W'
Lincoln Speedway pulled the curtain on the 2008 Central Pennsylvania racing season Saturday night and it was business as usual for Fred Rahmer.
The 10-time track champion raced to the win in the 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature in easy fashion for his 17h overall win this season.
Rahmer’s No. 51 sprint car was wrenched by his 12-year-old son Freddie for their first win as a driver/crew chief combo. Rahmer’s mechanic Tim Elwell left the team last weekend.
Rahmer started fifth in the feature and raced his way around Lance Dewease on lap 11 and drove a near three-second margin of victory for his 161st career win in the Pigeon Hills.
Dewease finished second over Chad Layton, Mark Smith up from 11th and Jim Siegel. Elwell joined the Smith team during the week and will maintain the car next season.
Completing the top 10 were Cris Eash, Alan Krimes, Greg Hodnett, Todd Hestro and Brian Montieth.
Sam Gallagher capped off a championship season in the thundercar event with his fifth win of the season over Duane Watson, Mike Slaybaugh, Rick Weaver and Larry Neiderer.
Lincoln opens the 2009 racing season on Saturday, February 22 at 2pm.
HOFFMAN TOPS SUSKY CLASSIC
Williams Grove Speedway street stock champion invaded Susquehanna Speedway Saturday night and left with the big $3,000 payday in the Miller’s Racing Parts Fall Classic.
Hoffman, of Newville, only led the final two feet of the 50 lap event but that was all that mattered in his sixth overall win on the season.
Hoffman got by leader Paul Morgan on the final turn to win the event with Morgan second over brother Craig Morgan, Scott Thunberg and Newville’s Wes Alleman.
Jason Zook won the Xtreme Stock car 40 lap feature over Tommy Slanker, Sam Rial, Ron Vance, Jr. and Ricky Bender.
Dave Leidy, Jr. topped the 4-cylinder stock feature over Eric Hollenbach, Ricky Harper, Bryan Michael and Kory Sites.
PURKS WINS GRANDVIEW
Kyle Purks started on the front row of Saturday night’s URC Sprint portion of the 5-25’s at Grandview Speedway and picked up his firs win of the season in the final event for the series this year.
Purks led the non stop event in the win over Becca Anderson, JJ Grasso, Robbie Stillwaggon and Michael Carber.
Rodney Kistler won the Legends feature over Jason Rochelle, Steve Nederostek, Frank Polimeda and Tim Bauer while Tracey Readinger won the Wingless ARDC Midget feature over Steve Buckwalter, Drew Heistand, Brett Arndt and Nick Wean. It was a makeup from a rained out feature in June.
Buckwalter won the regularly scheduled event over Arndt, Jeff Doug Manmiller topped the NASCAR Modified feature over Sean Merkel, Mike Gular, Terry Meitzler and Meme DeSantis while Butch Gratz scored the 600cc modified feature over Mike Kepplel and Erick Whitebe.
