Police investigate bomb threat at Chambersburg school
State police are Chambersburg is investigating a bomb threat called into the Franklin County 911 Center Tuesday at 10:08 a.m. in regard to an alleged bomb at Manito School on the 7500 block of Brownsmill Road in Chambersburg, police said.
School staff was contacted after the call, and they immediately evacuated the school, according to police. State police, Franklin County Emergency Services and Greencastle-Antrim Fire Department and fire police responded to the scene, police said.
The school and grounds were subsequently searched by state police and Capital and State College K9 units, but no device was located, according to police. The school was rendered safe and classes resumed, police said.
Manito School is an alternative high school where young adults 17 and older can complete academic credits for a high school diploma. The school is designed to help students who have previously dropped out of or withdrawn from high school.
