Debit card theft reported in Lower Mifflin
Someone used a Lower Mifflin Township man’s debit card without authorization Nov. 6 to make Internet purchases totaling $348.80, according to state police at Carlisle.
The charges originated in South Carolina, police said, noting that the man who owns the card lives in the 400 block of Meadows Road.
Tractor-trailer overturns on I-81
The right lane of Interstate 81 south in Silver Spring Township was closed for about two hours Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer overturned, according to state police at Carlisle.
Paiva Ronaldo of New Jersey, age unknown, was driving a Volvo tractor-trailer at 5:45 a.m. when he drifted off the right shoulder of the road near mile marker 56.1 and lost control, police said, rolling the rig onto its right side. It is not known if Ronaldo wore a seat belt, police said, but he was not injured.
Both lanes were closed for about 20 minutes to upright the rig, which was then taken from the scene by John’s Towing, police said. The tractor-trailer sustained major left front-end damage, police said.
Burglary reported in Perry County
Someone forcibly entered a Perry County woman’s home on Oct. 27 and searched it, according to state police at Newport.
The break-in happened between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Pine Hill Road in Spring Township, police said, noting that nothing was taken.
One injured in Carlisle crash
Linda K. Dewalt was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries after a crash Saturday on South Hanover Street at the Interstate 81 ramp, according to Carlisle police.
Police said Tuesday that Dewalt, 43, of the first block of East Louther Street, Carlisle, was stopped at a red light in her green 1994 Ford at 8:19 a.m. when she was hit from behind by a black-and-white 1988 Jeep driven by Harland M. Guernsey, 21, of the 700 block of West North Street, Carlisle.
Both drivers wore seat belts, police said, and Guernsey’s Jeep was towed to an impound lot. Investigation continues, police said.
Cumberland Goodwill fire and ambulance companies assisted at the scene.
A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday that Dewalt was treated and released.
Perry County identity theft cases foiled
Two unauthorized attempts to use a Perry County woman’s credit card number to make purchases online were foiled when the companies contacted the woman, according to state police at Newport.
The incidents happened Nov. 4, police said, and the woman lives on Charter Drive in Carroll Township.
Carlisle juvenile charged with possessing marijuana
A juvenile male observed rolling a marijuana cigarette at 1 p.m. Saturday was arrested in the first block of Kerrs Avenue, according to Carlisle police.
The boy was charged with possession of marijuana and released to his mother, police said.
Marysville man dies in crash
A Marysville man was pronounced dead at the scene of an early morning crash Wednesday, according to state police at Newport.
Douglas K. Walters, 51, was driving a 1994 Honda Accord west on Route 850 in Marysville, at 12:28 a.m. when he drifted across the road for unknown reasons and hit a utility pole at the southwest corner of the Greenbriar Drive intersection, police said.
Perry County Coroner Michael Shalonis pronounced Walters dead at 1:05 a.m., police said. The air bags on Walters’ car deployed, police said, but he was not wearing a seat belt.
The car sustained moderate damage, police said.
