Conroy lifts Devils to ECAC semis
The Dickinson College women’s soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. The No. 4-seeded Red Devils posted a 2-1 win over No. 5 Stevenson University.
First-year Genevieve Olson put the Devils on the board in the 13th minute, scoring off a pass over the shoulder from Dana Conroy.
First-year forward and Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year Stephanie Eyler tied the game with a solo goal just before the end of the half. She found the net with just 31 seconds on the clock.
Conroy slipped the ball inside the right post, finishing a header from Centennial Conference Player of the Year Sarah Casey, who redirected a cross from All-CC defender Courtney Anderson with 16:02 remaining in regulation.
Junior goalkeeper Kailyn Hartmann made six saves in the win for the Red Devils. Brittany Ross turned in a strong performance as well, stopping 10 shots. The Mustangs defense cleared two near-goals off the line, one in each half.
The Red Devils improve to 13-3-4 overall. They are scheduled to travel to top-seed Frostburg State University on Saturday for the semifinals. Game time is yet to be determined, but will likely be the second of a doubleheader. The finals will also be held at Frostburg on Sunday.
