Row, ho ho your boat!
Santa will visit Boiling Springs via boat this year

Weeks before his reindeer carry him over area rooftops, Santa will float to Boiling Springs in a rowboat.
The 17th annual holiday tree lighting ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Sunday along the banks of Children’s Lake.
Each year, more than 200 residents line up along the lake, watching in eager anticipation for a tree, floating on the lake, to alight with color. Then, it’s more waiting and watching for Santa to debut out of the darkness on his boat, finally reaching the shore, where he disembarks to greet anxious children.
“The kids really look forward to it,” explained Eric Edstrom of the Boiling Springs Civic Association, which sponsors the event.
Santa then stops in the gazebo, where children line up to give him their wish lists.
New this year, Toys for Tots is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys.
The event will include a short program and music from the high school band.
“We’ll have live music this year,” Edstrom said.
The South Middleton Fire Co. will serve hot chocolate. F&M Bank will offer cookies. Karns Foods has donated candy canes.
“This is an all-volunteer activity,” Edstrom said.
This year’s 17-foot tree was donated by Brett and Tammy Ritter of Lakeview Framing.
Ken Stoltz will be the master of ceremonies. In addition to the tree lighting, some village businesses will be open Sunday. Village Artisans will host a holiday open house from noon to 5 p.m. Wildlife artist Sandra Blair, a member of the International Guild of Realism, will show her work, which captures the essence of animals and their habitats in watercolor.
Children’s Lake is on Route 174 and Forge Road in South Middleton Township. Parking may be found throughout the village.
“We look forward to sharing this event with the community,” Edstrom said.
