Here are Tuesday's Sentinel area police reports:

Woman injured in turnpike crash

A Philadelphia woman was injured in a crash Saturday afternoon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to state police at Newville.

Police said Henry K. Johnson, 58, was approaching mile post 229.7 in Silver Spring Township at 4:37 p.m. when he lost control of his 2000 Nissan Xterra and struck the concrete median. After striking the barrier, the vehicle crossed both lanes and came to rest in a ditch.

Janet W. Johnson, 53, one of two passengers, was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center for leg and back injuries. Henry Johnson and Seline A. Johnson, 24, were not injured.

The vehicle had to be towed, police said.

Two injured in Middlesex Township accident

A Florida man lost control of his 2005 Freightliner XL Sunday afternoon in Middlesex Township and crashed at the Carlisle interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

State police at Newville said Jean B. Frantz, 32, of Pompano Beach, was exiting the turnpike at 12:30 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a left curve and the truck rolled over onto its passenger’s side.

Frantz was freed from the truck by a passing motorist. Cumberland Goodwill Fire Department extracted his passenger, Guadalupe N. Hernandez III, 34, of San Antonio, Texas.

Both men were transported to Carlisle Regional Medical Center for evaluations. They sustained minor injuries and were released from the hospital later that day, police said.

Woman dies in crash

State police at Chambersburg are seeking witnesses to the crash that killed a Saint Thomas woman Monday morning on Route 30.

“This agency and the Franklin County coroner’s office are currently investigating the possibility that a third vehicle may have contributed to or witnessed the accident,” the state police report says. “This possible vehicle is believed to be a red/maroon 4-door sedan.”

Lauren M. Hamby, 20, was driving east on Route 30 and swerved to avoid hitting another car on that side, police said. Hamby lost control of her car and crossed into the westbound lane, where the collision occurred at 8:36 a.m.

The car was hit on the passenger side, Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner said. Hamby was not wearing a seat belt.

She was pronounced dead on arrival at Chambersburg Hospital, police said. The driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries and was treated and released from that hospital.

Police asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Bowes at (717) 264-5161 and reference H03-1812094.

Drivers strike deer on I-76

Deer caused multiple accidents on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Cumberland County within the past week, according to state police at Newville.

Police said Anna M. Rembert, 46, of Erie was traveling east on Dec. 3 through North Middleton Township when a deer jumped onto the roadway at mile post 225.2. The front of her 2007 Chevrolet Malibu struck and killed the deer.

On Dec. 5, Richard B. Reeves, 68, of Fort Gibson, Okla., was near mile post 207.4 in Upper Mifflin Township when a deer jumped out in front of him. His 2004 Ford E-150 struck and killed the deer.

Both vehicles were towed. Neither driver was injured.
