Here are Saturday's Sentinel police reports

Carlisle man injured, then charged with DUI

A Carlisle-area man was injured after his vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer at Pitt and High streets in Carlisle Thursday.

Borough police say Jesse R. Smith was driving a 2002 Toyota east on High Street at 3:16 a.m. when he failed to notice in time that the tractor-trailer had stopped in front of him.

Smith, 21, of the 500 block of Hillcrest Drive suffered minor injuries and was treated at Carlisle Regional Medical Center and released, police say.

Smith was charged with driving while under the influence, careless driving and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His Toyota sustained disabling damage.

The truck driver -- Andrew J. Schwab, 34, of Lebanon -- was not hurt, police say.

Woman injured following Carlisle crash

A Carlisle-area woman suffered neck pain following a three-vehicle accident Wednesday at the intersection of Interstate 81 and Walnut Bottom Road in Carlisle Borough.

Carlisle police say Patricia Alexander, 49, of the first block of Kutz Road was transported to Carlisle Regional Medical Center by ambulance following the 7:21 p.m. accident.

Police say a 2001 Pontiac driven by Kimberly C. Hodgson, 22, of the first block of Mare Road, Carlisle, was traveling west on Walnut Bottom Road when her vehicle slid into the 2004 Chevrolet driven by Alexander.

This collision caused a chain reaction which resulted in Alexander’s vehicle rear-ending a 1995 Isuzu driven by Linda C. Strayer, 59, of the 800 block of High Mountain Road, Gardners.

Both the Chevrolet and Isuzu were stopped at the traffic signal at the intersection. Police cited Alexander with following too closely.

Items stolen from Perry County vehicle

Someone entered a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Windy Hill Road in Carroll Township, Perry County, and removed items from it, according to state police at Newport.

The theft happened between 4 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 17, police said, and they ask anyone with information about the incident to call 567-3110.

Woman charged with unauthorized use of automobile

A North Middleton Township woman was charged with unauthorized use of automobile after police received a report about 3 p.m. Dec. 16 that she had taken a gray and brown 2003 Ford Focus from a residence on Wilbert Drive, according to North Middleton Township police. Cheyann Martin, 31, of Wilbert Drive, returned with the vehicle about 6:30 a.m. Dec. 17, police said.

Newville woman charged with DUI after accident

A woman was charged with DUI after her vehicle hit another vehicle in the 200 block of Allen Road at 6:46 p.m. Thursday, according to Carlisle police.

Denise Y. Mullen, 44, of the 300 block of Center Road, Newville, was driving a gold 2007 Chevy north when she crossed the center line and hit a blue 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Randall S. Meals, 46, of the 200 block of Alters Road, Carlisle, police said.

Meals’ vehicle spun 180 degrees and slid backward into a mailbox and the Route 11 sign on the berm, police said. The impact separated his rear driver’s side wheel and sent it into the front yard of an adjacent property.

A third driver, Lindsay Sweet, said she was driving directly behind Meals when the crash happened and had to drive off the shoulder to avoid being hit, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said, but both Mullen and Meals’ vehicles sustained major damage.

Mullen was also charged with careless driving and roadways laned for travel, police said.

Woman injured in gas station hit-and-run

A Carlisle woman was treated at Carlisle Regional Medical Center for a concussion she suffered in a hit-and-run crash at the Hess gas station, 602 E. High St., Dec. 16.

Carlisle police say Michelle L. Kaskie, 24, of the first block of Hillside Drive, Carlisle, was trying to pull out from the station’s north entrance onto East High Street about 3 p.m. when the rear passenger door of her gold 1999 Mazda was struck by another vehicle, police said.

Kaskie said the other vehicle left so quickly that she was able to describe it only as a small dark blue or black car, police said, and she was unable to determine whether the driver was male or female. Snow was falling heavily at that time, police said, and the other vehicle may have been snow-covered, blocking the driver from seeing Kaskie’s vehicle.

Man charged with making terroristic threats

A man was charged with terroristic threats after he grabbed a woman’s gun and waved it around during an argument on Dec. 13, according to state police at Newport.

The incident happened at 7 p.m. on Valley Road west of Reed Drive in Rye Township, Perry County, police said. Christopher Mansbarger, age unavailable, is also accused of grabbing the woman’s hair and pulling her down, threatening to put a bullet in the gun and threatening to put the victim “6 feet under,” police said.

According to police, Thomas Vitez, of Port Orange, Fla., was in the sleeper compartment of his parked 2007 Peterbilt tractor trailer when the vehicle was struck on the front left side of the bumper.
