Art in Focus: Pure Gallery, Inc. is something to talk about
Exciting new ideas are on the walls of Pure Gallery Inc., according to owner Rose Anderson.
“There’s always something to talk about,” says Anderson, who carries original and limited edition work of contemporary national and international artists who “are gaining a lot of recognition and what I like to call ‘buzz’ out there in the art world.”
Patrons should expect to see a lot of color and impressionistic art, she says, along with some pieces depicting sports giants like Eli Manning, Tiger Woods and Richard Petty.
“People don’t know what to buy husbands and boyfriends for gifts,” Anderson says, noting that unique and appropriate art can be a nice upgrade from sweaters and socks.
She does carry some local artists and pieces in traditional and abstract styles, she says, but they’re not predominant. A quick glance at the Pure Gallery Web site shows everything from vintage-feeling cosmopolitan scenes by Russian artist Avtandil to playful cloudscapes by Beverly Bennington to “not naked, but sensuous women” portrayed by Fabian Perez.
“Because I’m a very small gallery, obviously I can’t show everything that I can obtain,” Anderson says. But, she says, she is very willing to work with patrons in ordering art that interests them or even bringing pieces they’re considering to their home.
“There’s nothing like taking a look at artwork,” she says simply.
She advises people who are working with interior designers to buy the art they love first and then design around it. She used to think that advice was selfish, she said, but designers have told her they like it.
“It gives them a better feel for what colors they like and what feeling they want out of a room,” Anderson says.
Anderson also offers framing and installation services and says that Pure Gallery artwork starts below $100 and goes into the thousands.
“I try to make it as easy for people to afford exactly what they want as possible,” she says.
