Registration plate stolen
State police in Carlisle are investigating the theft of a registration plate from a vehicle parked last week on Wertz Avenue in Monroe Township.
A 61-year-old township man told police the plate was removed from his 1993 Nissan Maxima sometime between 7 p.m. Dec. 23 and 3 p.m. Saturday. Police did not release the license plate number but are asking anyone with information to contact them at 249-2121, ext. 3.
Christmas reindeer stolen
Someone removed a Christmas reindeer from the front yard of a home in the 500 block of Meals Road, South Middleton Township home, about 2 a.m. Sunday.
State police in Carlisle are asking anyone with information to contact them at 249-2121.
Police investigate weekend thefts
Carlisle police are investigating two cases of theft reported Sunday.
A 19-year-old woman told police someone removed four hubcaps from her 1993 Subaru while it was parked at the Cinema 8 movie theater on Noble Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to the theater about 3 a.m., where the victim told them the suspect left in an older model red car of unknown make.
Also Sunday, a 67-year-old man told police someone removed the license plate from his car while it was parked in the 200 block of F Street between 9 p.m. Saturday and 12:40 p.m. Sunday.
The license plate number was EGM-8857.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 243-5252.
Picture, alcohol stolen
Someone entered a home in the first block of Richard Avenue, Shippensburg Township, through an unlocked rear window on Dec. 20 and took a jacket, a picture of a female and alcohol, according to state police at Carlisle.
Bank card stolen from home
Carlisle police are investigating the theft of a Members 1st ATM card from a home in the first block of East Penn Street Dec. 21.
Good Samaritan gone wrong in Carlisle
A man who stopped to help a 66-year-old woman load a van on Christmas Day asked to use her bathroom and then stole a gray cell phone and about $50 in quarters from her home, according to Carlisle police.
The incident happened between noon and 1 p.m. in the 100 block of East Louther Street, police said. The man was described as a white male in his early 20s wearing a white hoodie with designs all over it, khaki pants and a hat over a headband.
Police ask anyone with information about the theft to call 243-5252.
Two burglaries reported in Perry County
Two burglaries in Perry County left little mark on the affected homes, state police at Newport said.
Someone broke into an apartment in the first block of High Street in Penn Township between Oct. 1 and Dec. 20, police said, but the burglar left after only turning on the lights.
Someone also left after breaking into a home in the 100 block of Barners Road in Liverpool Township between 5 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
Nothing from the homes was taken or damaged in either incident, police said.
Man charged with bicycle theft after chase
A 24-year-old man who saw his Schwinn Sidewinder bicycle being stolen at 2:30 a.m. today chased down the suspect, according to Carlisle police.
The bike was in front of the Comfort Suites Hotel in the first block of South Hanover Street and was not locked, police said. The owner caught up with George P. Johnson, 55, of Carlisle, less than a block away.
Johnson was arrested on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct, police said. The bike, valued at $100, was returned to the owner.
100 DVDs taken in burglary
Someone broke through a glass door and took about 100 DVDs from a home in the 300 block of West Penn Street between 7 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. Dec. 28, according to Carlisle police.
The estimated loss is $250, police said, and they ask anyone with information about the theft to call 243-5252.
Police announce checkpoint results
Four DUI arrests resulted from a Perry County checkpoint conducted between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 27 and 2:30 a.m. Dec. 28, according to state police at Newport.
State police at Lykens helped assess 127 motorists on Route 34 just south of Ashcombe Lane in Carroll Township, police said.
One felony drug arrest was also made; two people were cited for driving under suspension; one person was cited for driving under a DUI-related suspension; and six other traffic citations were issued.
Loosened lug nuts damage vehicle
Someone loosened all the lug nuts on the front wheels of a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 26 and 6 a.m. Dec. 27, according to Carlisle police.
The truck was parked in the 200 block of Acre Drive, police said, and the owner, who was not injured, reported that it sustained severe front end damage when he drove it.

Robbery nets $33
An 18-year-old Carlisle man was robbed shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday in the first block of East Locust Street.
According to Carlisle police, the man was approached by a black male in his 20s. The victim told police the man asked him for money. When he said he didn’t have any, the man pulled out a stainless steel 5-inch folding knife and told him to empty his pockets. The victim gave him $33 and ran away unharmed.
The robber is described as about 6 feet tall and skinny, wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 243-5252.
Man hurt in I-81 crash
A Mississippi man was transported to Chambersburg Hospital following a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 Sunday.
State police at Chambersburg say Zhang Hui, no age provided, was traveling in the southbound passing lane at 12:24 a.m. when he lost control of his 1996 Honda Odyssey, crossed over the right lane of the interstate and overturned.
Items stolen from home
State police at Chambersburg report the theft of unspecified items from a residence in the 100 block of Devon Court in Letterkenny Township Dec. 26.
Police gave no further information.
Computer, TV taken
A Dell laptop computer and a 46-inch Panasonic flat-screen television were stolen from a home in the first block of Maxwell Drive in Southampton Township, Franklin County, during the afternoon of Dec. 16, state police at Chambersburg report.
Police say the burglar gained entry to the residence by breaking a window at the front door.
Items stolen from car
Unspecified items were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Siloam Road in Greene Township Sunday, according to state police at Chambersburg.
Man sought for attempted theft
State police at Carlisle are looking for a black man they say tried to leave the Wal-Mart store in Shippensburg Township Saturday with merchandise he did not pay for.
At 8:08 p.m., store employees approached the man, who pushed his shopping cart into a female employee who was pushed into the glass exit door, police say.
Witnesses described the suspect as 30 to 40 years old, about 5-foot-7 and weighing between 240 and 250 pounds.
Police ask anyone with information to call them at 249-2121.
Man charged with shoving female
State police at Carlisle charged a Carlisle-area man with harassment following an incident on Christmas Eve in West Pennsboro Township.
Police say Bradley W. Barrick, 40, grabbed and shoved a female in an apartment in the 200 block of Greason Road at 8:12 p.m.
Three charged following driveway incident
State police at Carlisle charged three adults with harassment following an incident Christmas Eve in the 100 block of Beetem Hollow Road in Penn Township.
Police say Ricky L. Burkholder, 46, of Newville was blocking access to a driveway between 2 and 2:30 p.m.
Victor K. Taylor, 45, of Shippensburg and Tammy L. Junk, 35, of Newville then yelled obscenities to Burkholder, police say.
Officer chases down Carlisle teen
A Carlisle police officer who spotted a green 1998 Ford Taurus that had been reported stolen from Hampden Township chased down the 16-year-old Carlisle driver on Sunday.
The officer spotted the vehicle at 11:48 p.m. in the 800 block of North Hanover Street, police said, and when he attempted to stop it in Stanwix Circle, the driver ran on foot. The youth was caught in the 700 block of Stanwix Circle.
Because the car’s license plate was recently reported stolen in Carlisle, police said, the youth faces two counts of motor vehicle theft, two counts of receiving stolen property and two counts of fleeing and eluding police.
